Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) and Team Mopar drivers Brady Bacon and Brad Sweet will do battle for the Crane Cams $50,000 prize bonus on Friday, Dec. 7 at the third annual Mopar/PRI Sprint & Midget Classic Presented by DHL at Orlando Speedworld Raceway. Competing in the sprint and midget portions of the event, Bacon or Sweet needs to sweep both legs of the event to bank the $50,000 prize.

Team Mopar drivers Brady Bacon and Brad Sweet to do battle for $50,000 bonus
Oklahoma native Bacon will pilot the No. 99 Mopar Kasey Kahne Racing entry. The 17-year-old circle track phenomenon has had a strong first season under the Mopar/KKR banner. He’s placed fourth in the final USAC National Sprint Car Series standings, with nine top five and 15 top ten finishes on the year. The recent high school graduate also finished in the top ten in the USAC National Midget Series – taking the eighth spot – and will return to his KKR ride in 2008.

“Everyone goes to the PRI Show, and a lot of them come out to the races, too,” said Bacon. “It’s pretty cool that people from all kinds of racing can see and appreciate what we do. It would be great to win at the Mopar race with the Mopar car, especially with everybody there watching.”

Sweet, who joined the KKR team in November, will steer the No. 79 Mopar KKR entry recently vacated by the NASCAR-bound Kevin Swindell. The young Californian made his KKR debut in November in the “Western World Championships” at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Ariz., and claimed the eighth spot in the event finale.

Bacon and Sweet will also be joined by 16-year-old Dakoda Armstrong. Armstrong will take the wheel of the No. 7A C&A Motorsports car and stage his own chase for the $50,000 bonus. More Mopar-powered entries may join the starting grids of both the sprint and midget features in the days leading up to the event.

70 Years of Mopar
When Chrysler bought Dodge in 1928, the need for a dedicated parts manufacturer, supplier and distribution system to support the growing enterprise led to the formation of the Chrysler Motor Parts Corporation (CMPC) in 1929.

Originally used in the 1920s, Mopar (a simple contraction of the words MOtor and PARts) was trademarked for a line of antifreeze products in 1937. It was also widely used as a moniker for the CMPC. The Mopar brand made its mark in the 1960s – the muscle car era. The Chrysler Corporation built race-ready Dodge and Plymouth “package cars” equipped with special high-performance parts. Mopar carried a line of “Special Parts” for super stock drag racers and developed its racing parts division called Mopar Performance Parts to enhance speed and handling for both road and racing use.

Today, Chrysler LLC’s Global Service & Parts division is responsible for the manufacturing and distribution of nearly 250,000 authentic Mopar replacement parts, components and accessories for Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles sold around the world. To assure quality, reliability and durability, all Mopar parts and accessories are designed in strict adherence to Chrysler engineering standards
