Tracking Kasey Kahne
Sunday’s result: Enumclaw’s Kasey Kahne started ninth and finished 16th in the UAW-Ford 500 at Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Ala.
Race highlights: Kasey Kahne spent much of the race in the top 10 with one of the stronger engine packages on the track, but the politics of the draft didn’t swing in his favor when the top 20 cars went for broke with less than 10 laps remaining. Kasey Kahne, who ran as high as second for a portion of the race, was cycled back to 16th, his fourth top-20 finish at Talladega.
Point tracker: Kasey Kahne moved up one spot to 21st in Nextel Cup standings with 2,848 points.
On the horizon: Nextel Cup drivers return home to Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C., for Saturday’s Bank of America 500.
Kasey Kahne’s take: “We had a real good day. At the end, nobody would follow me. Cars would come and go all different directions. I couldn’t get a car behind (me) the last 18 laps. That was the whole problem. Other than that, we had one of the better cars out there.”
