Big names may visit Kamp Speedway
BOSWELL -- There is a "possibility" that a few NASCAR drivers will attend Thursday night's USAC Indiana Sprint Week event at Kamp Motor Speedway.
Track owners Bob and Gayle Kamp could not confirm the appearance of NASCAR drivers who own sprint cars entered at the Benton County dirt track.
Dick Jordan of USAC said several NASCAR drivers have entered cars.
"There will be about 50 drivers out there, including guys who drive for Tony Stewart Racing and Kasey Kahne Racing," he said Tuesday.
Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne are NASCAR drivers. Levi Jones and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. drive for Tony Stewart, while Kevin Swindell and Brady Bacon drive for Kasey Kahne.
NASCAR drivers JJ Yeley and Jason Leffler also have cars entered Thursday night.
Gayle Kamp said Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne have been known to watch their sprint drivers compete when times permits. Sometimes, the NASCAR stars get behind the wheel, she said.
NASCAR's next race is July 29 in the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
"After last weekend's race, Kasey Kahne was asked what he was going to do during his vacation," Bob Kamp said.
"He said he was going to a sprint car race Thursday night. Maybe, he'll be here."
