David Stremme Ready To Drop The Gloves With Kasey Kahne
Kasey Kahne offered up some harsh words about David Stremme following Sunday’s Jim Stewart 400 at Richmond International. On Wednesday Stremme laughed off Kasey Kahne’s comments during an appearance on Sirius Satellite Radio.
“He’s into all the name-calling and everything else,” Stremme said on Sirius. “I just think it’s hilarious. Doesn’t bother me none at all. I’m sure if he wanted to go out back and go for a couple of rounds he wouldn’t be saying that.”
After the race Sunday Kasey Kahne said: “I got back there to battling with Stremme and those guys. My car was better, but everywhere I went, Stremme went. So I was just confused where he was going. I don't know. He's pretty fat and out of shape. That's probably half the reason. It was late in the race. He was probably pretty worn out."
Stremme questioned whether or not Kasey Kahne's miserable season thus far in the Nextel Cup is getting to his head.
“I’m actually in the best condition I’ve been in.” said Stremme, who is 17th in the Nextel Cup standings. “He’s got his own mental problems, let alone being 32nd in points and not having the year he has. He’s frustrated and the funny thing is he’s run his mouth a lot and hasn’t come and confronted me or talked to me.
Stremme had a hard time figuring out why Kasey Kahne was criticizing him when it was Kasey Kahne that was so far back in the field.
“He says, ‘running back near Stremme and them.’” Stremme said. “Well, I was running like 8th or 9th at the time and he was a lap down so I don’t know quite where he gets [that] I’m in the way. I think more this year he’s been in the way than anything.”
Stremme said he and Kahne are scheduled to be together Thursday for a commercial shoot
“It’ll be interesting to hear what he’s got to say without a mic or anybody else around,” Stremme said. “. . . I’m not going to go make a scene or anything. I’m a lot more professional than that. . . . I’m going to put it behind me but I’ll go on and just proceed to whip him every week on the track and we’ll go from there. It’s just good fire-building, good motivation I guess, to outrun him.”
